Significance

Everything we do is motivated by desire. Many actions in our culture are motivated by the desire for the “American Dream”. To have popularity, power, and possessions…or in one word, “success”. In our culture when we feel we have reached a measure of success we decide we can give a little back. Then we live for more noble things such as to serve, give, love, sacrifice, help others…or in a word, “significance”. What if we reversed the order of these two desires in our life? What if we lived to give, love, and serve first and to have popularity, power and possessions second? What if we lived to give instead of to get? This would be a countercultural way of life indeed. Which one will get first place in your life, success or significance?
