The Incredable Power of Caring

In that last few weeks I have observed over a dozen moments of care. Whether it's stopping by the neighbours to ask how things are going, sending an e-mail to a friend to say that you appreciate them, offering a helping hand to someone who could use it or any other number of things, you have hundreds of opportunities every week to offer the incredible power of caring.

"Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don't be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand." Phil. 2:3-4 (The Message)

Listen and Learn

Keeping an open posture towards others is not only endearing and good for relationships; it is also a great way to keep learning. One of the traits of the elusive characteristic of humility is to listen genuinely as if the other person really does have something to teach us. I have tried to live sincerely believing that everyone I meet has something they can teach me if I will draw it out of them.

“The purposes of a man's heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.” Proverbs 20:5
