What Makes You Feel Strong

What makes you feel strong? What, when you are doing it, makes you feel as if you are engaged, focused, passionate? What kinds of activities cause you to "forget the time" when you are doing them?

Obviously, a good movie, great sex, good food, someone appreciating us, etc. are true for almost all of us. But in the regular tasks of life we each experience "strength" differently. Here is another way to ask it, "What fills your bucket?" Maybe it's when you are organizing detailed items and getting them just right. Maybe it's when you are working with your hands (gardening, farming, renovating, arts, etc.) in some way. Maybe it's when you are in a brainstorming meeting or maybe it's when you are coaching someone else to be their best. Maybe it's when you are listening to someone's problems and really caring for and hearing them.

Very few people are able to articulate what fills their bucket. There are several activities/jobs that you can do that will ad value to your work or home that actually fill you. Imagine doing work and being filled at the same time! Most of us experience this too rarely. Observe yourself over the next several days. Fill in the blank on this sentence. "When I am doing                                     I feel strong, successful, engaged, energized, focused, don't notice the time going by."

When I first heard this, I thought it was pretty lame. I have been doing it for a few days and I have found it not only revealing and helpful for me but also energizing. Just thinking about and knowing what strengthens me is strengthening in itself.
